Investing in Tomorrow
Teaching Today
Harmony Area School District consists of a strong partnership of teachers, parents, volunteers, and community supporters. Thanks to each of these groups, we have a strong educational system. Our goal of providing our students with the best possible education comes with many challenges of teaching, nurturing, and guiding students within our system. As we face our challenges, we must keep in mind our motivating force:
Investing in Tomorrow – Teaching Today
Our foundation is built upon teamwork, change and high expectations.
Teamwork:
Working as a team, we can accomplish our goals and meet challenges. Teamwork will ensure that we provide a strong foundation for all students.
Change:
Public schools are expected to produce students who are literate, well educated in basic subjects, and able to successfully enter the workforce. I continue to be committed to helping our district remain competitive in a world where change is the norm. Just as society changes, so must we in order to meet our challenges. This requires a continuous search for effective ways of fulfilling our mission:
"The mission of Harmony Area schools is to provide challenging, appropriately focused educational opportunities for our children in a safe and nurturing school environment."
This also requires responding to change and remaining flexible while developing more challenging curricular offerings and assessments.
High Expectations:
We must focus on high expectations, high standards, rigorous assessments and accountability of results. We must continue to address improving student scores. We have implemented an extensive diagnostic program to better identify weaknesses, developed an early intervention program to reduce student failures and are expanding our differentiated teaching techniques.
We need your support. Please volunteer in our classrooms. Help us to help our children. Become involved in our educational team. Working together we can meet our challenges and provide our students with the best possible educational foundation.
Sincerely,
David R. Goodin
